Welcome Home Joan Surpasses Goal

Thanks to everyone who donated to make the Welcome Home Joan project a rousing success. They surpassed their goal of $18,000 so Joan Brown can have an accessible shower in her home. She has been traveling an hour each way to the Shepherd Center three times a week to take a shower. FODAC also provided her with a hospital bed.

Joan was left paralyzed from a gunshot in the neck in 2011 and rehabbed at a hospital in her native Jamaica and locally at the Shepherd Center. Look for more details on the completed project as they become available.

Testimonials

“I love the service. My father needed a chair (shower) since November 2006, the insurance would not cover the shower chair but when I was told to call the Friends of the Disabled, they helped right away. My dad is 85.”
